Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel is a Buddhist Teacher and author of two books, The Power of an Open Question and The Logic of Faith. She is a Teacher in Mangala Shri Bhuti, (MSB) and the founder and President of the educational non-profit The Middle Way Initiative (MWI). She hosts the Open Question Podcast which focuses on the Buddhist Middle Way tradition.

Elizabeth has studied and practiced Buddhism since 1985 under the guidance of her root teacher Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche. After completing a six year retreat, Kongtrul RInpoche appointed her Retreat Master at MSB’s Samten Ling retreat center in Colorado. She edited two books by Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche, It’s Up to You and Light Comes Through.

Elizabeth is an adviser for the Prison Mindfulness Institute, and the Khyentse Foundation Vision Project and the Milinda Program. With Anam Thubten, she is a founding member and teacher in the Wilderness Dharma Movement. She holds degrees in Anthropology (BA) and Buddhist Studies (MA).
